Mission Statement and Vision
Walnut Meadows is committed to the success of its partners, tenants, homeowners, and the surrounding communities. We combine our expertise in engineering, construction, and development with efficient planning, resourcefulness, sound business practices, flexibility, smart choices and unerring dependability to deliver visual appeal, livability, quality, and value to today’s user. Walnut Meadows is built on the foundation of creating quality places of character. Each building is designed to fulfill a vision of improving the ease of use while providing excellence in location, construction, amenities and livability; and each building is built to be a cornerstone of its use. A fitting description as the Company founder’s last name Steineker, literally means ‘cornerstone’. An appropriate name for a family of multi-generational builders committed to excellence.
Martin D. Steineker, Principal & Founder
For the past two decades Martin Steineker, the founder of Walnut Meadows Real Estate Development, has been actively involved in the evolution of Atlanta’s urban redevelopment and housing markets. Steineker is a proponent of new urbanism in our city and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). He is an alumnus of the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership and holds numerous certifications of specialized design and construction.
Martin received a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with multiple tracks including structural, environmental, site, and construction, along with certificates in Economics and Cooperative Education as an Environmental Project Coordinator. He later returned to graduate school with 18 years of work experience, at the J. Mack Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University, and completed an MBA with dual concentrations of Real Estate Development and Advanced Corporate Financial Strategy.
His education and experience provided the tools to communicate with all components of design, construction, finance, and marketing, to envision and deliver the needs of the highest-and-best use for development, and to establish value for all involved. Further, Steineker now teaches as a Part Time Instructor at Georgia State, leading Real Estate Investment Analysis to the next generation of creative young minds.
Having excelled in leadership roles with several nationally recognized construction and urban development companies including R. J. Griffin (now J. E. Dunn Construction), and Orinda Corporation, Martin established Walnut Meadows to fulfill his personal vision of providing quality product in Atlanta’s most sought after in-town neighborhoods. Committed to environmentally sound building practices and the revitalization of communities that empower a healthy environment of work, play, shopping and entertainment, Walnut Meadows has been pleased to offer impeccably designed and architecturally inspired projects serving Atlanta’s vibrant walkable neighborhoods, and contributes their success to the partnerships with the design teams and capital providers that have proven the right fit for each project.
Steineker works out of the Old Fourth Ward Historic District and lives in the Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta with his wife Katie, a portrait artist, and their Fox Hound Sadie, where they are expecting their first child in the fall of 2019.
